By: Drew Wind Submitted via Truly Nolen Email

I recently stayed at a motel which had bed bugs, and this motel was in the same city as Joanne's office in Bruce County (Port Elgin), and I found her office's number via Google. Upon possibly finding a bed bug in my home from this motel, I found this number and had many questions. Without meeting me, and being 4 hours away from each other, Joanne actually spent a good 45 minutes on the phone with me, helping me out with suggestions and even as far as allowing me to email a picture of this bug to identify it as a bed bug or not just on her own time and free. This service was actually comforting as can be, and I wanted to go out of my way now for her, as she did for me, even not meeting each other, or ever probably, to tell her company that Joanne, clearly is going above the call for customer service. This company is lucky to have someone with that knowledge and helpful to the public. Thank you.

Carpenter Ant

Burlington, ON Carpenter Ant

When it comes to destroying wood, carpenter ants can cause extensive damage before you even realize they are there. They are active year-round and can create multiple nests in your buildings, making carpenter ant removal in Burlington even more difficult. To ensure complete eradication and prevention, it’s best to use professional pest control services.

Evaluating Infestation

The first step your Truly Nolen technician will take is to perform a thorough inspection of the exterior and interior of your home or office. Our staff are experts in recognizing the signs of carpenter ant infiltration, what areas are attractive to them, and the extent of the damage you may have. They will then come up with a plan of action that is tailored specifically to your situation.

Eradicating Nests

New technology in ant eradication has led to more effective treatments that will result in ants bringing the insecticide back to their nests, dealing with the pests at the source. It is critical to apply just the right amount of treatment to ensure that the ants are killed and don’t simply move their nest to a different location in your home. Our professionals will ensure that all the nests are dealt with and the problem is completely eliminated.

Preventing Infestations

The best way to prevent carpenter ant damage to your home or business is to prevent them from nesting in the first place. Truly Nolen has a Four Seasons approach to pest control in Burlington that takes into account the habits of the different problem species you may encounter. For example, carpenter ants are more active in looking for new nesting sites during the spring. You can also help safeguard your buildings by:

  • Clear decaying vegetation away from the foundation
  • Clear up stumps and wood from the yard
  • Store firewood and any building materials away from your home
  • Eliminate standing water and sources of moisture
  • Trim trees and plants so that they don’t connect to the building

For help with ant control in Burlington, give us a call or fill out our contact form to schedule your inspection today. We’ll go through your property inside and out and make a personalized plan of how to deal with any problems we find. The carpenter ant is one of the most serious structural pests we have in Canada and Truly Nolen is here to help you protect your home. All of our pest solutions are performed with the safety of you, your pets, and the environment in mind.

Bed Bug Control

Truly Nolen Burlington, ON Bed Bug Image

People used to think that if someone has bed bugs it must be because they or their home are not clean but this is far from the truth. Any building no matter how well maintained is at risk, even luxury hotels. These pests are also notorious for being extremely difficult to eliminate. While this is true, at Truly Nolen in Burlington we offer bed bug control services that can help you get rid of these pests without having to get rid of all your belongings.

Evaluating the Infestation

The first thing your Truly Nolen technician will do is to thoroughly inspect your home to determine whether bed bugs are indeed present. Infiltration usually begins in and around the bed, as they are active at night and will come out then to feed on people and pets. Telltale signs include dark red or brown spots in bedding and on mattresses, particularly around the seams. Bed Bugs may also hide in drapes, upholstered furniture, electrical outlets, in between floorboards, and behind wallpaper.

Eradicating the Infestation

When it is determined that bed bugs are present, we will make a plan for bed bug removal in Burlington. Truly Nolen has a patent-pending solution that involves using a high-pressure mist to ensure that the control material is pushed into the seams of the mattress and other areas where the pests may be hiding out. The reason that they are so hard to get rid of is because they are so effective at hiding out, so an effective delivery mechanism is critical.

Preventing Infestations

While keeping a clean home is not enough to prevent infestations, it is helpful to avoid having clutter where they can more easily hide. In addition, there are some ways that you can help keep bed bugs from coming back with you from a trip:

  • When you travel, thoroughly inspect the mattress, headboard, and bedside tables in your hotel room for signs of bed bugs.
  • When you come home, unpack your luggage in the garage and immediately wash your clothing.
  • If possible, store your luggage in the garage in between trips.

For help with bed bug control in Burlington, give us a call or fill out our contact form to schedule your inspection today. We’ll go through your home thoroughly to determine if you have a problem and then eradicate it. Bed bugs are difficult to get rid of but not impossible, especially with our cutting-edge technology. All of our pest solutions are performed with the safety of you, your pets, and the environment in mind.

Rodent Control

Burlington, ON Rodent Control Image

Rodents in your home or business are definitely a cause for alarm and need to be dealt with quickly, as they reproduce fast. At Truly Nolen, we have professionals that are experts in mice removal as well as rat removal services. They will thoroughly inspect your property to determine the extent of the problem and develop a comprehensive approach to dealing with it.

Dangers of Rodent Infestation

There are a number of concerns surrounding mice or rats in your building that create the need for rodent control in Burlington including:

  • Rat bites: Infants and small children, in particular, are frequent victims of rodent bites. In addition to the bite itself, there is also the possibility of bacteria being passed along with it.
  • Chewing damage: Because of the way their teeth grow, rodents must continually chew which can result in damage to your home. Of particular danger, is that they chew on wires which can then lead to electrical fires.
  • Airborne diseases: Rodent feces can release diseases into the air so great care needs to be used in removing them.

Rodent Removal

Our technician will do a thorough inspection of your property, determining how the rodents are getting in and out, and coming up with a personalized plan for dealing with them. This plan will include trapping the rodents, sanitation, and ensuring that they can’t get back in. Please bear in mind that, although we will begin addressing your problem immediately, the trapping portion of the plan can take a few weeks to complete. It’s best to trap rather than poison, which can not only create hazards for your health but also result in dead rodents within your walls.

Prevention of Further Infestations

The most important step is to seal up any potential entryways once the current threat is eradicated. This is something that definitely takes an expert, as rodents can fit in smaller openings than you might think possible. After, we can monitor your property on a regular basis to ensure that the seals have held. Truly Nolen provides a Four Seasons approach to dealing with pests that take into consideration their habits, such as nesting periods.

Give Truly Nolen in Burlington a call or fill out our contact form to schedule your inspection today. Even if you’re not aware of a rodent problem, we can inspect your home or business thoroughly, making sure there are no telltale signs and help ensure that there are no potential places for the rodents to get in. Prevention is always the best response to pest control.

Bee & Wasp Control

Truly Burlington, ON Bee and Wasp Control Image

When you see bees or wasps around your home, it’s normal to get concerned, especially if you have pets or young children. We’re happy to send one of our Truly Nolen technicians to check the situation out and determine whether our bee removal services are necessary. Our professionals can ensure that the problem is taken care of in a way that is safe for you and your family.

Identifying the Problem

The first step is to confirm the type of pest you’re dealing with. Besides bees, there are a variety of wasps as well as other stinging insects that can be found in Canada, each of which can have different behavioural patterns and may need different handling as well. Our technician will determine whether you require bee or wasp control services, as well as investigate how much of an infestation is present.

Getting Rid of the Pests

Our representative will decide on the best way to handle the situation and clearly communicate the plan. It is usually best to use professional services for pest control in Burlington, rather than try to get rid of even small nests. This will safeguard you from getting stung, as well as ensure that the problem is completely eradicated. Truly Nolen uses innovative ways of handling pests with the safety of your home, your pets, and the environment in mind.

Preventing Further Infestations

In addition to getting rid of the insects that have already infiltrated your home or yard, our professionals will go over the steps that you can take to ensure that it doesn’t happen again. In the case of bees, this includes:

  • Keeping vegetation near your home trimmed
  • Sealing all garbage in covered bins
  • Covering up sweet drinks or foods outside uncovered
  • Cleaning up immediately after eating outside

Seasonal Considerations

Insects, like other pests, have times of the year when they are more active and building their nests. For this reason, Truly Nolen provides a Four Seasons approach to dealing with pests. We will inspect your home or commercial property each time we visit, particularly looking out for the ones we know are most likely to present a problem at that time.

Give us a call or fill out our contact form to schedule your inspection today. Even if you’re not aware of a bee or wasp problem, we can look over the property and make recommendations to prevent one from happening. The best way to avoid having a pest problem is to ensure they aren’t able to get a foothold right from the start.

Spider Control

Truly Nolen Burlington, ON Spider Control Image

As a Burlington homeowner, few problems are more troubling than a spider infestation. While most arachnids in Ontario are not harmful to humans, some larger species can still deliver a painful bite when surprised or threatened.

At Truly Nolen, we understand the need to control the spider population in and around your home and can offer you safe and effective spider removal services, no matter the size of the problem.

Why Do Spiders Enter Human Homes?

Spiders are enterprising creatures that survive on instinct and may enter your home to find food, shelter and protection from bad weather and predators. Once inside, they may make themselves comfortable and hide out in a variety of places, such as:

  • Attics
  • Moist basements
  • Cracks and crevices
  • Outbuildings

One sign of a spider infestation is an increase in webbing in and around your home. A difference in silk consistency may mean you have more than one species making themselves at home. Some spiders prefer cool, moist environments while others like to live in drier areas. If your home provides them with both, you may find yourself needing our services for pest control in Burlington.

We Can Help With Spider Problems

Our Truly Nolen spider removal technicians can assist you with an infestation once you find evidence of arachnid activity, such as an increase in webbing indoors and evidence of egg sacs. Some larger spiders, such as wandering species, travel to find their food and may enter your home for this reason. Our technicians can treat your home with pressurized mists that reach deep into places where spiders hide, eliminating both full-grown spiders and their egg sacs. This can disrupt and stop the breeding cycle and reduce the spider population inside your home.

Once we complete spider removal services, we can offer you a variety of tips that can help keep them away from your home to prevent re-infestation. One of the most effective ways is to properly seal the bottoms of doors and window screens so spiders cannot wander inside. Keeping prey insects away from your home can also discourage spiders from coming inside, so vacuuming and cleaning up food crumbs can keep insects and the arachnids who eat them away from your home.
